The finals for the Grade 1 race for 3-year-olds will be held on June 6th at Ruidoso Downs Race Track. Ridden by jockey Raul Valenzuela, Katch This Bird had a slight bobble at the break but recovered nicely to finish the 400 yards in :20.069 seconds into a 10 mph headwind. It was the second career win in eight starts for the John Stinebaugh trainee. Louis Howard owns the son of One Famous Eagle from the Oak Tree Special mare First Prize Joy. He has compiled a (8) 2-1-0 record and earned $18,802. Last season Katch This Bird broke his maiden in the Rainbow Futurity(G1) trials and was second in the Ruidoso Futurity trials. In the $100,000 Ruidoso Invitational Stakes, set for the 10 horses with the next fastest qualifying times that did not qualify for the Ruidoso Derby, My Fast Prize qualified after finishing second to Laser Cut in the second of 11 trials Sunday. Also bred by Weetona Stanley, My Fast Prize was purchased by TYKHE Racing LLC for $69,000 at the 2018 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale. Wesley Giles conditions the multiple Grade 1 stakes earner of $187,115. Ridden by jockey Alan Hernandez, My Fast Prize completed the 400 yards in :20.188 seconds. Last year the son of leading sire Mr Jess Perry, from the Corona Cartel mare Coronas Fast Dash qualified for the All American Futurity(G1) and the Texas Classic Futurity(G1).
