Saddled by leading trainer Mark Hanson The Secret Prize competed the 350 yards in :17.603 seconds, equaling a 98 speed index into a 10 mph crosswind. It was the third career win in eight starts for the son of multiple stakes sire Hez Our Secret and the $11,730 winner’s purse nearly doubled his earnings total to $20,921. RTM Stables, Robin Dunn, Kevin Dunn and Bryon Goody own the Oklahoma-bred gelding out of the Pyc Paint Your Wagon mare First Prize Shaunda. Third in the Pocatello Downs Juvenile Challenge last season, The Secret Prize was bred by Weetona Stanley. Leaving Angelz, finished a game second under jockey Santiago Jimenez to earn $5,100. Hector Magallanes trains the Oregon homebred son of champion sire Coronas Leaving You for owner-breeder Ruben Magallanes. The stakes winning gelding, out of Angel Eyes by FDD Dynasty, has won five of 10 career starts and banked over $66,500. Graded stakes winner Apolinaria Prize finished a neck back to pick up $2,550 for third. The California bred daughter of Fast Prize Cartel races for owner Ebelin Orozco and is trained by Edwin Rosales. EG High Desert Farm is the breeder. Cesar Moreno had the riding call aboard the filly out of SS Calendar Girl by Finding Nemo. Winner of the Grade 2 John Deere Juvenile Challenge last fall, Apolinaria Prize has earned $104,895. SS Calendar Girl is out of Remington Park Futurity(G1) winner First Prize Robin also bred by Weetona Stanley. Katie Perry, Vf Give Me A Prize, Riddle, L Bar D Mistr Cartel, Eagle Assault and Majesty Perry completed the field. Phire Away was scratched. |
