LOS ALAMITOS, CA–MAY 8, 2024–Grade 1 qualifier Stanley Cartel made his 3-year-old debut Saturday night (May 4) in an $11,334 Los Alamitos Allowance for 3-year-olds going 300 yards.

The son of leading sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon burst from the gate and extended his lead to 1-3/4 lengths at the wire. Under jockey Armando Cervantes, Stanley Cartel completed the distance in a quick :15.318 clocking, equaling a 101-speed index.

Owned-and-bred by AQHA leading breeder Weetona Stanley, Stanley Cartel is a full or half-sibling to six black type including Heritage Place Derby(G2) winner Pyc Fun N Fancy, Remington Park Futurity(RG1) winner Im A Fancy Pyc, Prairie Meadows Distaff Challenge(G3) winner Weetonas Lafawn, stakes winner First Fancy Prize and Speedhorse Futurity(G3) winner Fast N Fancy.

His dam First Prize Fancy, by Mr Jess Perry, is a sister to Remington Park Futurity(G1) winner First Prize Leesa, Heritage Place Futurity(G1) winner First Carolina, Remington Park Futurity(G1) winner First Prize Robin and half-sister to Heritage Place Futurity(G1) winner Fast First Prize.

In preparation for his 3-year-old debut the Stanley Cartel worked 12 flat from the gate, the fastest 220-yard work this year at Los Alamitos.

The bay colt has won three of three starts including qualifying for the Grade 1 Ed Burke Million Futurity last year. He did not run back in the final.
