Photo courtesy: Louisiana DownsBOSSIER CITY, LA—FEBRUARY 28, 2009—Frank Cavazos and Warren King's Heza Jodys Toast put in a strong finish to get up by a nose over Plum Slinky in the $50,000 restricted grade 3 Mr Jess Perry stakes on Saturday afternoon at Louisiana Downs. The five-year-old son of Heza Fast Dash picked $30,000 for his effort, pushing his career earnings to more than $230,000. Last season he went 1-1-1 from three starts including a win in the Swift Stakes at Louisiana Downs on March 16, 2008. Trained by Cavazos and ridden by J.R. Ramirez, Heza Jodys Toast was making his first start since April 26, 2008, where he finished third in the Delta Downs stakes. He covered the 400 yards in :19.924 seconds over a fast track. Heza Fast Dash was capping off a big week at the Bossier City oval where on Tuesday his two-year-old crop of 2009 debuted by winning six of 12 trial races to the Mardi Gras Futurity, including three qualifiers. Heza Fast Dash is a full brother to Lady Bug Stallion Station's blue hen producer Fast First Prize, who won the 2002 Heritage Place Futurity(G1). She is the dam of 2008 West Texas Futurity(G1) winner and 300 yard world record holder Fast Prize Zoom($190,475), stakes-placed Fast Prize Doll an earner of more than $80,000 and Fast Prize Rose who brought $200,000 in the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale last summer. On race track Heza Fast Dash earned more than $136,000 while winning the Blue Ribbon Futurity(G2) and finishing second in the Remington Park Futurity(G1).
