Dustin Orona PhotographyOKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MARCH 27, 2010—Lepic-Morgan Partnership's multiple stakes winning filly Spit Curl Diva set a new track record at Remington Park Saturday evening while winning the $38,500 Decketta Stakes(G3).
Saddled by Jody Brown, the sorrel filly picked up her second win of the season and 10th lifetime victory in a time of :17.243 seconds. The previous record of :17.26 was set on May 15, 2009 by Apolloonamission. David Brown was on board for the winner's purse of $23,500, pushing the Spit Curl Jess filly's earnings to $492,535. She has never finished off the board at Remington Park going 4-4-1 in nine starts at the Oklahoma City oval. Spit Curl Jess is owned by a partnership of Arbuckle Stables and Fred Stanley of Lady Bug Stallion Station. He stands for a 2010 fee of $3,000 at Oklahoma Stud near Purcell, Oklahoma. The 5-year-old was saddled by Jeffrey Heath Reed and ridden by Thomas Wade Byrd. She earned $7,000 for her effort. Bollenbach Farms' Azoom Babe was 1 ˝ back of the leaders for third. Saddled by AQHA Racing's champion trainer Paul Jones, saddled the 4-year-old was ridden by Cody Jensen and earned $4,850. Completing the field were Eyesa Country Miss, Ms Royal Zevi, Whirling Cleat, Ld American Maid, Rarely Makes It Home and Del Shake. |
