The 11-race program on Saturday is worth $1,042,402.
The nation’s top 2-year-old American Quarter Horses will blaze 330 yards in the Remington Park Futurity with the Weetona Stanley and W.E. Smith-owned entry of Coronas Fast Prize and Fast Prize Ribbon tabbed as the 5-2 morning-line favorite. They are a pair of full-sisters with the exact same pedigree and both are trained by Heath Taylor. Coronas Fast Prize posted the top time of 16.672 seconds during 10 trials to determine the 12-horse field for the Remington Park Futurity on April 3. Owned by the Madill, Okla. partnership of Stanley & Smith, Coronas Fast Prize was ridden to victory in her trial by Cody Jensen who maintains the mount for the final on Saturday. Both fillies are sired by leading stallion Corona Cartel out of the Heritage Place Futurity(G1) winner Fast First Prize. The daughter of Heza Fast Man is already a multiple grade 1 producer including Fast Prize Zoom who holds the current world record for 300 yards of :14.678 second set on April 20, 2008 when she won the West Texas Futurity(G1). Llano Teller was tabbed as the second-choice in the morning line at 9-2 odds. “Both ends of the entry were very sharp in their trial and will be a strong duo for trainer Heath Taylor in the Futurity,” noted Remington Park odds-maker Jerry Shottenkirk. “Coronas Fast Prize was the top qualifier and will probably be the one to beat. Llano Teller is the second choice off a pair of outstanding efforts in his maiden win and the trial for this race.” The field for the Remington Park Futurity, by saddle-towel order, with trainer, jockey and odds, is:

Coronas Fast Prize, Heath Taylor, Cody Jensen, 5-2 Trainer Eddie Willis, leader on the season with 22 wins, qualified four for the Remington Park Futurity with PYC Takes All, Passion For Corona, RNorthern Stoli and Capo De Capi all competing out of his barn. The first race of 11 on Saturday is set for 6:25pm. |
