SPIT CURL JESS FILLY TOPS FIRST DAY OF TWO-YEAR-OLD TRAINING RACES AT REMINGTON Date Posted: 2/19/2011 9:14:06 PM Spit Curl Duchess, by champion sire Spit Curl Jess, topped the first day of training races at Remington Park on Wednesday. © Dustin Orona PhotoOKLAHOMA CITY, OK—FEBRUARY 16, 2011—Two-year-old took center stage in Oklahoma City Wednesday as the first of three days of schooling races got underway at Remington Park.
Day one saw 89 two-year-old American Quarter Horses and American Paint Horses go the post in 12 training races. Coming away with the top time was Elbert Brown of Seminole, Oklahoma's Spit Curl Duchess who completed the 250 yard test in :13.64 seconds. Rodney Reed saddled the daughter of champion sire Spit Curl Jess. Champion jockey G.R. Carter, Jr. was aboard the sorrel filly that won the 10th training race, her first official work away from the gate, over Snowbunny. She was bred in Oklahoma by A.C. Taylor from the Toast To Dash mare American Dove. Additional schooling races are scheduled at the Oklahoma City racetrack tomorrow (Thursday) and Friday with an 11:30 a.m. (CST) post each day. All the races are scheduled for 250 yards from the gate. The Opening Weekend of the 2011 Remington Park racing schedule is Friday thru Sunday, March 4-6. The first race on Friday and Saturday is slated for 6pm with Sunday afternoon action underway at 1:30 p.m. |
