Nicole Walker / Coady PhotographyVINTON, LA—JUNE 16, 2011—The lightly raced 3-year-old Finder Del Rey posted the top qualifying time for the $20,000-added Open Graduation Stakes after a 1¾ length victory at Delta Downs Thursday evening.
The 10 fastest qualifiers from three trials will return to the Louisiana straightaway on July 2nd and vie for the winner's purse of the 350 yard evening for 3 & 4-Year-Old American Quarter Horses. Making just his fourth lifetime start, Finder Del Rey broke on top under jockey J.R. Ramirez and pulled away from the field while breaking his maiden and setting the top qualifying time of :17.326, a 101 speed index. Heath Taylor trains the gelding, from the second crop by multiple grade 1 winner Finding Nemo, for Herman and Kimberly Hogue. After four starts the 3-year-old sports a 1-2-0 record and the trial winner's purse of $3,900 pushed his earnings to more than $13,000. Bred in Oklahoma by Fred Stanley, Finder Del Rey is out of the multiple stakes producer Disco Del Rey . An All American Futurity finalist, the daughter of Disco Jerry (TB) is the dam of 2011 Remington Park Futurity runner-up Folly Del Rey and 2011 Remington Park track record holder Jess Jones .
