DENVER PASS IN CONTENTIOUS RAINBOW JUVENILE MONDAY Date Posted: 7/22/2011 4:34:24 PM Denver Pass will be ridden by champion jockey Jacky Martin. Ruidoso Downs PhotoRUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—JULY 22, 2011—Denver Pass, who finished third as the favorite in a strong Rainbow Futurity trial, returns on Monday afternoon at Ruidoso Downs in a contentious field racing 400 yards in the $20,000 Rainbow Juvenile Overnight Stakes.
The Juvenile is for two-year-old quarter horses who did not qualify for the Rainbow Futurity and it runs as the eighth race on the nine-race program. First post time is 1 p.m. Owned and bred by Weetona Stanley and William Smith, Denver Pass was sent off as the even-money favorite in his Rainbow Futurity trial and finished a troubled third behind Texas Rockstar and YM Quick, who each qualified for the Rainbow Futurity. The Corona Cartel colt earned that trial favoritism after winning his maiden in his career debut at Remington Park. The sorrel colt is the first foal of grade 1 Heritage Place Futurity winner First Carolina, Mr Jess Perry. Trainer Blane Wood will have Jacky Martin aboard with the fifth post position. Alejandro Moya’s Feature Zoe has been in the top-three finishers in each of her four starts with a pair of second-place runs in two local starts. In her Rainbow Futurity trial the Feature Mr Jess filly finished more than one length behind Rainbow Futurity second-fastest qualifier Jess Cuervo. Roy Baldillez rides Feature Zoe with the third post position. Also in the Rainbow Juvenile are Mighty Famous Vic and Stolis Rogue, the fifth- and sixth-place finishers in the West Texas Futurity, and West Texas Juvenile third-place finisher VGC Moon Walk. |
