Espinosa Stone’s First Prize Rock won his maiden in stunning style today (Friday) when he raced 300 yards in :15.021. It just fell short of the :15.019 set by One Tough Dude on June 28, 2009. First Prize Rock , trained by Luis Villafranco, made his fourth career start in the first race. His best previous effort was a third-place finish in his Oklahoma Futurity trial on April 2. The son of leading two-year-old sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon is out of First Prize Dash, a multiple grade 1 producing sister to First Down Dash. Ridden by Royal Baldillez, First Prize Rock earned a career high 107 speed index for his effort. He was bred in Oklahoma by Weetona Stanley. Espinosa Stone, Inc. purchased the brown colt for $44,000 in the September Heritage Place Sale in Oklahoma City. |
