HOBBS, NM—NOVEMBER 24, 2011—Stakes winner Denver Pass will face Ruidoso Futurity (G1) runner-up Back In The Pack and All American Futurity (G1) finalist Lethal Volt in the $200,000 Southwest Juvenile Championship (G1) over 440 yards at Zia Park on Sunday afternoon.

The trio of 2-year-olds provide plenty of grade 1 experience to the Championship rae for two-year-olds.

Weetona Stanley and William Smith ’s homebred Denver Pass was a prompt favorite in the $20,000 Rainbow Juvenile (R) and then qualified for the All American Futurity with a second-place finish behind Jess Cuervo in their trial. He was seventh in the All American Futurity after being bumped at the start.

The Corona Cartel colt is the first starter out of Stanley and Smith 's Grade 1 winning Mr Jess Perry mare First Carolina. The mare won five of eight starts, including the Heritage Place Futurity(G1) and Remington Park Derby(G1). She earned $415,047.

In his last start Denver Pass won a trial to the rich $1.3 million Texas Classic Futurity(G1), ending up with the 15th fastest time from 13 trial races.

Reliance Ranches and Debra Gotovac’s Back In The Pack got her summer campaign at Ruidoso Downs off to an excellent start when she finished just a neck behind Silver For Me in the $500,000 Ruidoso Futurity. The Brad Bolen-trained filly then capped her Ruidoso campaign with a neck win in the $71,000 All American Juvenile (R).

Owned by D. Adams, breeder P.K. Thomas and Gene White, Lethal Volt won his maiden on August 1 and came back two weeks later to score a neck win over Mr Ease 123 in their All American Futurity trial, with each horse earning a spot in the finals of the $2.4 million futurity. He then raced to a fifth-place finish in the final after hopping at the start. Trainer Trey Wood then took Lethal Volt to Lone Star Park, and he was a non-qualifying winner of his Dash For Cash Futurity (G1) trial.

Another starter is the field is the lightly raced Folly Del Rey who finished second to Valiant Hero in the $700,000 Remington Park Futurity last April at Remington Park. Trey Wood will saddled the PYC Paint Your Wagon filly for Randy and Sandy Coleman.

Also a home bred for Lady Bug Stallion Station by Fred Stanley, the bay miss out of Disco Del Rey, by Disco Jerry (TB) has earned $140,628 in just four starts. She has won her last starts including posting the 16th fastest time to the $1.3 million Texas Classic Futurity earlier this month.
