OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MARCH 30, 2012—The best time on the first night of qualifying for the $720,000 Remington Park Oklahoma Bred Futurity came in the final trial (Race 11) of the evening when A Will And Away rolled to an easy 1-1/4 length victory. His 330-yard clocking of :16.568 seconds over the fast track was by far the top effort of the evening.

Owned by Irene Velasquez of Ulysses, Kan. and trained by Verle Bohner, A Will And Away cruised to the fastest time of the night under jockey David Brown. Bred in Oklahoma by Velasquez, A Will And Away is a 2-year-old gelding by SPIT CURL JESS from the Strawfly Special mare Fly By The Mall. He won his career debut and earned the winner’s share of the $15,000 trial purse, $8,784.

Sergio Lozano, Delfino Lozano IV and Juan A. Medina's First Flyn Dash posted the fourth fastest time with a second place effort to A Will And Away. The First Down Dash filly bred by Michael Pohl out of the Fast Flyin Prize, a homebred mare from Lady Bug Stallion Station. The Strawflyin Buds mare is a daughter of Heritage Place Futurity winner and grade 1 producer Fast First Prize, by Heza Fast Man. Cody Jensen rode the colt for trainer Bonifacio Almanza.

The bigger prize for all the qualifiers will come on April 14 when they receive their share of the richest futurity purse in the sport for a state-bred race, based on their finish in the event. The Remington Park Futurity is conducted solely for Oklahoma-breds.

In the $100,000 Guaranteed Remington Park Oklahoma Bred Juvenile the Lady Bug Stallion Station bred PYC Kant Katch Me posted the fastest qualifying time after Day 1. Jesus J. Andrade, Jr., purchased the PYC Paint Your Wagon colt out of Wanna Be Me, by Disco Jerry(TB) at the Ruidoso Select Summer Sale. Cody Jensen rode the colt to a :16.810 time for trainer Judd Kearl.

The second set of 10 trials will be run on Saturday night at Remington Park with five more 2-year-olds making their way into the April 14 final. The first race on Saturday is at 6pm.

Three of the ten fastest two-year-olds from the first night of trials were connected to Lady Bug Stallion Station through either their sire or dam.
