PYC KANT KATCH ME FAVORED IN HISTORIC HERITAGE PLACE FUTURITY Date Posted: 5/23/2012 6:12:59 PM Pyc Kant Katch Me has been made the 5-2 morning-line favorite. © Dustin Orona PhotoOKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MAY 23, 2012—The richest race in Oklahoma history, the Grade 1, $1,115,000 Heritage Place Futurity, was drawn this morning in the Remington Park racing office. The field of 10 two-year-olds will leave the starting gate in the Saturday night finale. Pyc Kant Katch Me has been made the 5-2 morning-line favorite.
Owned by JNB Racing of Mission, Texas and trained by Judd Kearl, Pyc Kant Katch Me won his qualifying trial for the Heritage Place Futurity by an astounding three lengths on May 5. Cody Jensen has been the only rider the horse has ever known and he will be up again for the colt’s biggest test. “Pyc Kant Katch Me is the slight favorite due to his stunning three-length score in his trial, which was easily the fastest of the day,” said Remington Park odds-maker Jerry Shottenkirk. “Dash for Coronas will get a lot of support off his Oklahoma Futurity win and subsequent Heritage Place trial triumph over West Texas Futurity winner El Duero.” Pyc Kant Katch Me is undefeated thru three starts. An Oklahoma-bred, the Pyc Paint Your Wagon colt won the $100,000 Remington Park Juvenile on April 14 prior to his impressive trial performance for the Heritage Place Futurity. He will start from post-position nine. He was bred in Oklahoma by Weetona Stanley from the Disco Jerry (TB) mare Wanna Be Me. Kearl also has two other talented runners in the 350-yard Heritage Place Futurity. He will send Sum Better Stuff, who won his May 4 trial by 1-1/4 lengths, and Valiant Lil Lady, a trial winner by 2-3/4 lengths on May 5, into the main event along with the favored PYC Kant Katch Me. Trainer Toby Keeton matched Kearl with three qualifiers to the Heritage Place Futurity. He will saddle Thequeenhasgonenuts, second in the $488,000 Sam Houston Futurity in April; El Duero, winner of the West Texas Futurity in April and CC Seis on Saturday night.
