I trials. Don Shugart PhotoTULSA, OK—JUNE 17, 2012From two starters in the $100,000 Black Gold Futurity Division I trials contested on Saturday night at Fair Meadows, SPIT CURL JESS sired the third and fifth fastest qualifiers.
The 10 fastest qualifiers will return June 30th to vie for the winner's share of a $100,000 purse and shot to compete in the rich Black Gold Championship trials this fall. Eye A Spit Curl, who came into the trials off a daylight maiden victory at Remington Park on May 19, hung until the third fastest time of : 15.563. G.R. Carter, Jr. rode the homebred SPIT CURL JESS filly Martin Stacy. Stacy Charette-Hill trains the 2-year-old out the Mr Eye Opener mare Thisdimplesaniopener. In the sixth trial Carter rode Spit Curl American to a daylight victory in a time of :15.607. Kasey Willis trains the SPIT CURL JESS colt for alexia Mehrle. A.C. Taylor bred Spit Curl American in Oklahoma from the Toast To Dash mare American Dove. Lady Bug Stallion Station's Diamond Prize also qualified for her owner/breeder Weetona Stanley. The Black Gold Futurity trials were the first start for the Shazoom filly out of First Prize Diamond, a Fly Jess Fly mare out former Broodmare of the Year and Lady Bug Stallion Station's foundation mare First Prize Dash, by Dash For Cash.
