Weetona Stanley and W.E. Smith bred two of the top 10 qualifiers to the rich $325,000 race for 2-year-old American Quarter Horses.
Sassy Spit Curl, a Spit Curl Jess filly out of Fast Prize Corona, by Corona Cartel, won the seventh trial by half-a-length to post in :15.618 seconds over a sloppy sealed surface. Owned by Weetona Stanley, the bay filly is trained by Rodney Reed and ridden by G.R. Carter, Jr. Cr Tuckernuck, a Jet Black Patriot colt out of First Prize Corona, by Corona Cartel, qualified with the seventh fastest time of :15.616 for owner's Dan and Jolene Urschel.
