Amanda Glidden PhotoVINTON, LA—MAY 3, 2013—First crop sire Fast Prize Dash dominated Friday night's 11 trials for the LQHBA Lassie Futurity(RG2). The young son of Mr Jess Perry, bred by Weetona Stanley, sired three trial winners and four finalists including fastest qualifier Kiss You All Over.
The 10 fastest qualifiers, from the 108 Louisiana-Bred 2-year-old fillies who started in the trials, will return to Delta Downs on May 24 and vie for the biggest portion of the $246,142 purse. Ridden by Bobby Ransom, for her breeders' Kay and Wade Loup, Jr., Kiss You All Over broke on top and finished strong over Dashformoomoo in the final trial while posting the top qualifying mark of :16.793 seconds. Vann Haywood conditions the bay filly from the Takin On The Cash mare Sheza Neon Rose. It was the second start and first win for the 2-year-old filly, which was second in her maiden start at Louisiana Downs on March 20. She was the first of four Lassie finalists from the first crop of her sire Fast Prize Dash, a Grade 3 finalist out of Fast First Prize, winner of the Heritage Place Futurity(G1) and a full sister to leading sire Heza Fast Dash. The second dam is a full-sister to all-time leading sire First Down Dash. Six of the LQHBA Lassie qualifiers trace back through this female line—four finalists by Fast Prize Dash, one by First Prize Perry, one out of a Heza Fast Dash mare, and two by Sir Runaway Dash (a son of First Down Dash). Fast Prize Dash's other qualifiers were 3rd fastest Wow What A Prize, 7th fastest Callas Red Stilettos, and 8th fastest Dashformoomoo. |
