Both two 2-year-olds bred by Weetona Stanley qualified for the Grade 3 race.
The two-year-olds with the 10-fastest times from the six trials qualified to return in the John Deere Ruidoso Downs Juvenile Challenge(G3) August 3. The winner will also earn a starting spot in the $175,000-Guaranteed John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship to be run November 9 during the Bank of America Challenge Championships at Los Alamitos Race Course.
Picking up her second win four starts this season, Leesa Gone Wild races for Turner Farms and Tommie Turner. The Corona Cartel filly is the first foal out Weetona Stanley and W.E. Smith's Heritage Place Futurity(G1) winner First Prize Leesa. Leading trainer G. Blane Wood conditions the 4th fastest qualifier with Ricky Ramirez riding. She completed the 350 yards in :17.328 seconds, a 97 speed index. Coming off an appearance in the $75,000 Heritage Place Juvenile Invitational on June 1st, Blue Gene Harley drifted in to finish second and put up the fifth fastest time of :17.394 seconds, a 95 speed index. Eddie D. Willis trains the Spit Curl Jess gelding out of Corona Cartel mare First Prize Corona. for Reliance Ranches, LLC. With a 1-2-0 record in nine starts, he has earned over $21,000 this season.
