CORONADO CARTEL LEADS STANLEY BRED PAIR INTO MILLION DOLLAR TEXAS CLASSIC FUTURITY FINAL Date Posted: 10/25/2013 4:33:30 PM Coronado Cartel leads fellow qualifiers Big Biz Perry (#1) and Cr Tuckernuck (#2) in to the Texas Classic Futurity(G1) final. © Kris Davis / Reed Palmer PhotographyGRAND PRAIRE, TX—OCTOBER 19, 2013—Remington Park Futurity winner Coronado Cartel scored his fifth win in six starts this season with a half-length winning effort over Heritage Place Futurity(G1) winner and fellow Texas Classic Futurity finalist Big Biz Perry to clock the fifth fastest time of the night in the fourth trial, while qualifying for the $1 Million Grade 1, Texas Classic Futurity.
The ten fastest qualifiers from the 10 trial races will return to the North Central Texas racetrack on Saturday, November 9th to contest the 400 yard finale. Eddie D. Willis trains the Corona Cartel colt out of First Carolina, by Mr Jess Perry, for Reliance Ranches LLC. Jimmy Brooks rode the earner of over $316,000. Weetona Stanley and W.E. Smith bred the brown colt who posted the fifth fastest time of :19.611. CR Tuckernuck, another Stanley/Smith bred, finished a close third to get the ninth fastest time to the rich race. Dan and Joleen Urschel own the Jet Black Patriot gelding out Fast Prize Corona, by Corona Cartel. The Stacy Capps trainee has won or placed in four of six starts this season. He was fourth in the Rainbow Juvenile Stakes at Ruidoso Downs last July and a finalist to the Oklahoma Futurity(G2) in his first career start. |
