The 10 fastest 3-year-olds, from the three trial races, will return to the racetrack on closing day, February 23, and vie for a winner's share of the $176,000 purse over the classic Quarter Horse distance of 440 yards. The stakes-placed daughter of leading sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon won with authority as she defeated Hialeah Futurity winner Eagles Magic by 1-¾ lengths in the final trial. Her time of :21.682, a 92 speed index, was the second fastest of the day. Owned and trained by Ricardo Martinez, Pyc First Prize Fany entered the race off a fifth place effort in the December 29 $406,955 Hialeah Futurity. She finished third in the $70,840 Governor's Stakes last fall at Indiana Downs. She has won or placed in six of eight career starts this season and has earned nearly $60,000. Bred in Oklahoma by Weetona Stanley and W.E.
