FIRST PRIZE PARISA QUALIFIES FOR HISTORIC OKLAHOMA FUTURITY Date Posted: 3/9/2014 3:23:40 AM First Prize Parisa, under jockey Berkley Packer, winning the thrid trial on Saturday night at Remington Park. OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MARCH 8, 2014—The second night of the 2014 American Quarter Horse & Mixed-breed Season at Remington Park featured 15 trials for the $370,000 Oklahoma Futurity, to set a field of 10. After all trials were conducted, a shake was also needed to decide the last position for the race after a pair of runners shared the exact same time for the slot.
Rodney Reed saddled First Prize Parisa to half-length win in the third trial and the third fastest time of :15.300 from the 128 two-year-old who went to post. Greg Kobold and Wend See own the Carters Cartel filly out of First Prize Paris by Mr Jess Perry. Berkely Packer had the riding assignment. Weetona Stanley and W.E. Smith bred First Prize Parisa in Oklahoma. The historic 73rd-running of the oldest futurity in Quarter Horse racing to be contested at Remington Park on Saturday, March 22. In related news, First Prize Shaunda won a $31,000 Allowance at Remington Park on opening night (Friday). The stakes winning Pyc Paint Your Wagon filly out of First Prize Leesa by Mr Jess Perry has won five of nine career starts and earned nearly $90,000. In the ninth race on Friday, Im A Fancy Pyc broke his maiden in his first start for owner Dustin Cox and trainer Joe Thomas Sr. The Pyc Paint Your Wagon colt is out of First Prize Fancy by Mr Jess Perry. The bay completed the 250 yards in :13.157 seconds to earn a 91 speed index. He picked up $14,940 of the $25,600 maiden purse. Both First Prize Shaunda and Im A Fancy Pyc are bred by Weetona Stanley and W.E. Smith. |
