JESS CURL MY PRIZE HOLDS OFF AS NEEDED TO
WIN KNIGHT TRANSPORTATION FUTURITY

Jess Curl My Prize (#1)holds off fastest qualifier As Needed (#9) to win the Knight Transportation Futurity at Les Bois Park on Memorial Day.

BOISE, ID—MAY 26, 2014—Jess Curl My Prize fought off a tough challenge from fastest qualifier As Needed to win the $39,900 Knights Transportation Futurity by a nose Monday afternoon at Les Bois Park. One Prompt JJ finished a neck off the leaders in the show position.

Under jockey Nikeela Black, Jess Curl My Prize broke on top and maintained a close lead throughout to complete the 300 yard course in a quick in :15.467 seconds, a 101 speed index. It was the second win in three starts for the SPIT CURL JESS filly and the winner's purse of $17,955 boosted her career total to $20,455.

Monty Arrossa conditions the Oklahoma-bred filly for owners Denny and Sandy Weight, who purchased Jess Curl My Prize for $20,500 at the Heritage Place September Yearling Sale. Weetona Stanley bred the brown miss from the Oak Tree Special mare First Prize Joy.

First Prize Joy is a half-sister to Grade 1 winners First Prize Leesa, First Carolina, First Prize Robin and Fast First Prize.

As Needed entered the race as the fastest qualifier after a two-length winning performance in the May 13 trials for owner/breeder Bob and Scott Giltner. Wyatt Elison conditions the homebred. Ridden by J. Tores, the Idaho-bred earned $7,980 for the effort.

Monty Arrossa also saddled third place finisher One Prompt Jj for owner Jorge Navarro. Cesar DeAlba rode the. It was the first loss in three outs for the Mark and Peggy Brown Idaho-bred. She picked up $3,990 for the effort.

Completing the Knight Transportation Futurity field were Barn Babe, Sixes Royal Sue, Jamaica Okey, Jn Chicks Rockin, Awesome Gift and This Brooks Klas. Dk The Nacho Lady was scratched.
