FARMINGTON, NM—JUNE 21, 2014—Smoke On The Water was moved from second to first in the Grade 3 $105,000 Four Corners Futurity at SunRay Park Saturday afternoon after Mt Spit Shine was disqualified for interference and placed eighth.

Owned by Norma Reyes, Smoke On The Water got his second futurity win of the season under jockey Rick Oliver. In April the bay gelding won the $45,980 Arizona Quarter Horse Racing President's Open Futurity at Turf Paradise.

Monica Ortega trains the Spit Curl Jess gelding out of Smoken(TB), by Smoke Glacken. Robert Gentry bred the three-time winner in Kentucky. The $49,350 winner's purse boosted Smoke On The Water's earnings mark to $74,357 with a (4) 3-0-1 record.

Still a maiden, Zoomin Jessie was moved from third to second. Justin Flores owns the filly. Trainer Eloy Mendoza saddled the brown miss with Porfirio Cano riding. She earned $18,900 for the effort.

Making only her third career start, Ld Red Hot Blue moved in to the show position following the disqualification. Wesley T. Giles trains the homebred filly for Lewis Dillree. The Utah-bred picked up $11,550.

Ridden by Raul Gutierrez, the lightly raced Mt Spit Shine bumped fastest qualifier Jazznspots out of the gate then gained an early lead before drifting in severely to cause the disqualification. Also sired by Spit Curl Jess, Mt Spit Shine races for Mario Perea and is trained by Jaime Dominguez.

Completing the official order of finish were Clear Winn, Jazznspots, Stel Worth It, Nmoceanfrontproperty, Mt Spit Shine, Chicks Deville and Lotta Dynasty.
