JESS CURL MY PRIZE GOES FIVE-FOR-FIVE
WITH BITTERROOT FUTURITY VICTORY

BOISE, ID—JUNE 27, 2014—Denny and Sandy Weigt's Jess Curl My Prize broke on and top then extended her lead to half-length over Perryczech to win the richest Bitterroot Futurity in history Friday afternoon at Les Bois Park.

The the filly drifted in under jockey Nikeela Black while completing the 350 yards in :17.507 seconds to earn $60,052 of the record $150,125 purse. Perryczech finished a head in front of Steinway Ivory who was third.

Trainer Monty Arrossa saddled the Heritage Place September Sale graduate to her fifth win, second futurity victory, in as many starts this season. Out of the Oak Tree Special mare First Prize Joy, Jess Curl My Prize has earned $83,167.

Bred in Oklahoma by Weetona Stanley, the SPIT CURL JESS filly won the Knights Transportation Futurity on May 26. Her second dam is former Broodmare of the Year First Prize Dash, a sister to all-time leading sire First Down Dash.

Racing for owner-breeder EG High Desert Farms, Perryczech shipped to the Northwest from Los Alamitos to win her Bitterroot Futurity trial on June 14th. Pablos Pesina trains the filly. Perryczech finished well off the inside rail to pickup the $30,026 runner-up check and boost her earnings to more than $51,800. Alejandro Luna had the riding assignment.

Also a West Coast invader, fastest qualifier Steinway Ivory picked up $15,013 for his third place effort. Mark Hanson trains the gelding for Rob Evans and Hanson Racing, LLC. Bred in Utah by Blaine Bateman, Steinway Ivory was ridden by jockey Dirk Crane.

Completing the field were One Prompt JJ, Makin Snow, Barn Babe, Zoomin For Kash, Moreno Guapo and Left My Mark. Dk The Nacho Lady was scratched.
