Delightful Cat finished half-a-length back in third.
Spit Curl Ten completed the 350 yards in :17.591 seconds, a 90 speed index into a 15 mph head wind. Rodney Reed saddled the Spit Curl Jess gelding for owner Jeffery Strange. The $19,133 winner's purse brought the sorrel's earnings to $73,219. Weetona Stanley bred Spit Curl Ten in Oklahoma from the Dash For Perks mare Oh What A Perks. His record stands at (12) 2-5-3. Macar picked up $8,560 for his second place effort. Alfredo Gomez conditions the 3-year-old for owner Wade Helton. Omar Reyes rode the gelding. Robert Gutke is the breeder. Joyce McClennen and Tory McClennen's Delight Cat picked up $5,539 for third. Also a Rodney Reed trainee, the filly is an Oklahoma-homebred Agustin Silva rode. As One, Crowheart, Follies And Corona, Fire Burning, Ms Flashy Dancer and Spitin Image Status completed the Speedhorse Derby field. Regard Watah was scratched. |
