Mr Joe Eagle finished a neck back in third.
The Heza Fast Dash gelding entered the trials off a $10,000 claiming victory on July 19 at Retama Park where he also flew late to win by three-quarters an earn a 99 speed index. He finished second in the trials before putting on the performance of his life Saturday night in the Dash For Cash final. Under jockey Rodrigo Vallejo, Dashin For A Prize took advantage of Her O Don Won getting bumped from both sides to get the early jump and stay in front while completing the 440 yard course in :21.315 seconds, a 96 speed index. Eric Palacio trains the gelding for owner Oscar Moreno. The $69,760 winner's purse boosted his bankroll to $93,542. Phillip Deville bred Dashin For A Prize from the Weetona Stanley bred Oak Tree Special mare Fast Prize Angie. Her O Don Won finished second in his third consecutive stakes this season for owner/breeder Richard Scott. Russell Harris trains the Valiant Hero gelding out of Miss Shivers, by Feature Mr Jess. Ridden by Larry Payne, Her O Don Won earned $29,648 to push his bankroll to more than $322,000. Mr Joe Eagle earned his black-type for owner/breeder Dan W. Nicks. The One Famous Eagle gelding, trained by R.L. Rick Robinson, picked up $17,440 for the effort. Luis Ramirez rode the Texas-bred out of First Place Diamonds, by First Place Dash.
Chief Coronas Charm, Echoes Of Love, Bp Wagon Train, Cartini, This Candys Awesome and Cartels Hercules completed the field. Zooming For First was scratched.
