FIRST PRIZE CHICKS QUALIFES TO $126,150 WILD WEST FUTURITY AT LOS ALAMITOS Date Posted: 10/5/2015 9:25:23 AM First Prize Chicks, under jockey Cruz Mendez, winning the second trial Sunday at Los Alamitos Race Course. © Scott MartinezLOS ALAMITOS, CA— OCTOBER 4, 2015—Five Livestock Company LLC’s First Prize Chicks posted the fourth fastest time after winning her trial Sunday night for the $126,150 Wild West Futurity at Los Alamitos Race Course.
A total of 33 juveniles competed in the 350-yard trials with the horses with the 10 fastest times returning for the final on Sunday, October 25. The Wild West is for horses that raced Intermountain region, Northwest region, Nevada and/or Canada in 2015. First Prize Chicks beat The Plan Handicap winner Timely Delivery by a length to capture the second of four trials in a time of :17.780. With leading Los Alamitos rider Cruz Mendez aboard for trainer Jose Flores, the sorrel filly by Spit Curl Jess covered the distance in :17.780. Weetona Stanley bred the sorrel filly in Oklahoma from the County Chicks Man mare First Prize Chic. The two-time futurity finalist has compiled an (8) 3-2-1 record this season.
