VINTON, LA—MAY 7, 2016—Racing for owner Lester Colomb, Jr., Pyc First Prize Mia defeated stablemate Patriot Sayin Adios by three-quarters in the $25,000 Mothers Day Stakes Saturday night at Delta Downs. First Fancy Prize finished half-a-length back in the show position.

Pyc First Prize Mia put in a solid rally under jockey J.R. Ramirez to complete the 350 yards in :17.617 second, an 88 speed index. The $15,000 Mothers Day winner's purse brings the daughter of leading sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon's earnings total to nearly $55,000.

Conditioned by Kenneth Weeks, Pyc First Prize Mia entered the Mothers Day Stakes off a win in the Delta Dash Stakes on April 23. It was her third consecutive win and sixth overall from 13 career starts.

Weetona Stanley bred the 4-year-old multiple stakes winner in Oklahoma from the Fly Jess Fly mare First Prize Diamond.

Patriot Sayin Adios put in a late rush under jockey John Hamilton to pickup the $8,000 runners-up paycheck. Also trained by Weeks, the 5-year-old daughter of Jet Black Patriot races for owner Janice Bell. Bred in Louisiana by Joseph Henry Major Thibaut, Jr., Patriot Sayin Adios is a multiple stakes-placed earner of $84,970.

Making her first start of the season, and first start against older horses, graded stakes-placed First Prize Fancy used a late bid to get up for the show spot worth $2,750. Michael Taylor conditions the 3-year-old daughter of Pyc Paint Your Wagon for the partnership of Raymond Loup, Monica and Scott Jones. Second in the Grade 2 Firecracker Futurity last season, the bay filly has earned nearly $79,000.

Also bred in Oklahoma by Weetona Stanley and William Smith, First Fancy Prize is out of First Prize Fancy, a Mr Jess Perry half-sister to the aforementioned First Prize Diamond.

Shes A Fast Dash, Not Perry Pretty, Fly By You, Sydney Leigh, Outlook Is Good and Wheres Mom completed the field.
