SUNLAND PARK, NM—AUGUST 9, 2016—Jess Prize Me was named winner of the Grade 2 $214,635 West Texas Futurity this week after two horses were disqualified for positive lab tests in the April 15th trials.
Eventual futurity winner Eyema Blue Wagon, owned by Regal Racing Stables, LLC and trained by Albert Franco, and third place finisher Groupie James, owned by Carlos Trujillo, Jr. and trained by Jose Ramirez, Sr., were both disqualified and ordered unplaced. Jess Prize Me, a daughter of Mr Jess Perry from the West Texas Futurity(G1) winner Fast Prize Zoom, finished a neck off Eyema Blue Wagon, in the West Texas Futurity(G2) final. She earned $102,414 for the victory. Valorus was moved to second and Imperial Eagle third. Chris Zamora trains the bay filly for owner LMG Racing, Inc.
