The 10 fastest qualifiers will return to Will Rogers Downs on Sunday, September 25th to vie for the $121,200 winner's purse. Another 5% ($15,947) of the total purse money will be awarded to the sires of the ten finalists. William Smith's E Catching Fire got her second consecutive win on Saturday when she won the last of 11 trails by three-quarters to get the 5th fastest time of :17.850 seconds on track labeled fast. Bruce Bell saddled the Pyc Paint Your Wagon filly out of Grade 1 winner First Prize Leesa by Mr Jess Perry. Joe Badilla, Jr. was aboard the brown filly that broke her maiden August 25th at Fair Grounds Race Course in New Orleans. Weetona Stanley's Fast Prize Ferarri kicked off the Black Gold trials by breaking her maiden in a three-quarter-length effort that gave her the 6th fastest time of :17.902 seconds over muddy racetrack. It was the first win in three starts for the Clinton Crawford trained daughter to Tac It Like A Man from the Mr Jess Perry mare Ferarri Fast Prize. Cesar Gomez was up. Weetona Stanley and William Smith are the breeders on both Oklahoma-bred fillies.
