WEETONA STANLEY RECEIVES AQHA BREEDER SPECIAL RECOGNITION AWARD Date Posted: 2/6/2017 5:10:12 PM Fred Stanley, with Remington Park announcer Dale Day, accepts the award on behalf of mother and family. © Courtesy AQHAWeetona Stanley Receives AQHA Breeder Special Recognition Award JANUARY 20, 2017—The American Quarter Horse Association honored long-tome breeder Weetona Stanley with an AQHA Breeder Special Recognition Award during the AQHA Champion presentation ceremony January 18th at Heritage Place in Oklahoma City.
Ms. Stanley, the widow of longtime breeder A.F. Stanley, Jr., bred 37 winners in 2016 with earnings of $1,502,080*. Among the top runners last season she bred were Grade 1 winner Apollitical Chad winner of the $1 million Ruidoso Futurity, Grade 2 West Texas Futurity winner Jess Prize Me, Delta Downs Louisiana-Bred Derby(RG3) winner First Prize Denim, Oklahoma Horsemen's Association Derby winner First Prize Diamonds, Altona Derby winner Ferrari James, etc. Her son Fred Stanley was on hand in Oklahoma City to accept the honor on his mother and family. "Our operation has been family for over 50 years," Stanley said. "We have dedicated our lives to the Quarter Horse industry." Ms Stanley, 90, has 51 yearlings and about 50 foals coming in 2017.
