PYC FUN N FANCY BREAKS MAIDEN, SETS SECOND FASTEST OK FUTURITY TRIAL TIME Date Posted: 3/12/2017 3:08:47 AM Pyc Fun N Fancy, under jockey Daniel Torres, kicked off the night with a win in the first trial. © Dustin Orona PhotographyOKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MARCH 11, 2017—Pyc Fun N Fancy, a $32,000 Heritage Place Yearling Sale graduate, broke his maiden in his first career start Saturday with an impressive 1¼ length victory in the first of 17 trials for the Grade 3 $525,050 Oklahoma Futurity at Remington Park.
A brother to Remington Park Oklahoma-Bred Futurity(RG3) winner Im A Fancy Pyc, Pyc Fun N Fancy posted the second fastest clocking from 164 two-year-olds who competed in the trials. Ridden by jockey Daniel Torres the bay colt completed the 300-yard task in :15.365 seconds, a 91-speed index on muddy-rainy racetrack with a 17-mph tailwind. Luz Chavira conditions the son of leading sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon for owner Jose Guzman. Weetona Stanley bred the bay colt from the multiple stakes-producing Mr Jess Perry mare First Prize Fancy. Pyc Fun N Fancy is also a brother to Grade 3 Speedhorse Futurity winner Fast N Fancy, Grade 2 Firecracker Futurity runner-up First Fancy Prize and South Florida Derby runner-up Pyc First Prize Fany. The 10 fastest qualifiers will return to the Oklahoma City racetrack on Saturday, March 25th to vie for the winner's share of the more than half-million-dollar purse. Another Weetona Stanley bred 2-year-old, Fast Prize Rumor, finished second in the fourth trial and ended the night with the 11th fastest time of :15.526 seconds. The son of champion and first crop sire Hez Our Secret posted the fastest time for the Oklahoma Juvenile Invitational, a $50,000-Guranteed race where the second 10 fastest qualifiers as preferred invites. It will also run back on Saturday, March 25. Owner Jose Guzman paid $11,500 for the Heritage Place Yearling Sale graduate in September. He is out of the multiple stakes producing Corona Cartel mare Coronas Fast Prize. Jockey James Flores was aboard for trainer Gary McLean.
