A homebred racing for owner-breeder Weetona Stanley, First Prize Shawn battled fellow qualifier Shez A Cartel Chick to the wire in the 11th trial. Saddled by trainer Dustin Cox and ridden by jockey Andrew Samaniego, the Tempting Dash gelding posted a :15.590 clocking for the 300 yards. First Prize Shawn is from the first crop out of the Pyc Paint Your Wagon mare First Prize Shaunda. Cr Smoke, a filly by first-crop sire Pyc First Fancy Lee qualified with the 4th fastest time in the final trial. Ridden by jockey Omar Reyes, Cr Smoke races for Renee Wilson and trained by Clinton Crawford. Another Lady Bug Stallion Station connection to the Grade 3 Oklahoma Futurity final was the aforementioned Shez A Cartel Chick who posted the 9th fastest time of :15.548 seconds. A daughter of the highly anticipated first crop sire Coronado Cartel races for owner/breeder Double O Acres LLC. Michelle Hurdle is the breeder. Coronado Cartel also sired Jet Packed Kicks who posted the 12th fastest time to earn a spot in the March 24th $50,000-Guaranteed Oklahoma Juvenile. Weetona Stanley bred and sold both first-crop sires Coronado Cartel and Pyc First Fancy Lee. She is also the breeder of Secret Gems, a Hez Our Secret gelding out of First Prize Pearl, by Mr Jess Perry, who was the 15th fastest qualifier, securing a starting spot in the aforementioned $50,000-Guaranteed Oklahoma Juvenile.
