OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—APRIL 21, 2018—Weetonas Lafawn avenged her string of three consecutive seventh-place finishes by scoring her second lifetime stakes win in the $65,500 Mr Master Bug Stakes for 3-year-old Oklahoma-breds at Remington Park. Exactly 363 days earlier, she won the 2017 Remington Park Juvenile Stakes.

Weetonas Lafawn was dispatched at 28-1 odds in the wagering and won by three-quarters of a length, covering the 350 yards in :17.151 over a sloppy track while under jockey G.R. Carter. A 10-time American Quarter Horse Association Champion Jockey, Carter earned his second stakes victory of the rainy Saturday evening.

The daughter of Valiant Hero from the Mr Jess Perry mare First Prize Fancy, Weetonas Lafawn is owned by Donald Cavenaugh of Walnut Ridge, Ark. and is trained by Clint Crawford. She earned $36,300 for the win to raise her lifetime earnings to $101,126 with four career wins from eight races.

Weetonas Lafawn paid $59.40 to win, $29.60 to place and $9.60 to show. La Vencedora was the even-money favorite, but closed too late, finishing second while paying $3.20 to place and $2.80 to show. Painted Wine Wagon ran third and paid $9.80 to show.

Weetonas Lafawn was bred in Oklahoma by Weetona Stanley of Madill. Her late husband, A.F. "Sonny" Stanley, Jr. , stood Mr Master Bug at the Lady Bug Stallion Station in Madill, Oklahoma following his retirement from racing.

Last year's Remington Park Oklahoma-Bred Futurity(RG2) winner La Vencedora races for owner Good Memories LLC and trainer Amanda Tongay. James Flores rode the daughter of Ivory James from the Mr Jess Perry mare Jess Shakem.

Bred by Bobby D. Cox, La Vencedora entered the race off a win in the Grade 3 Oklahoma Derby on March 24th. She has earned $516,296.

Eddie D. Willis saddled third-place finisher Painted Wine Wagon for owner Larry Rice. Jimmy D. Brooks rode the Pyc Paint Your Wagon filly out of the Mr Jess Perry mare Mr Perrys Wine. Bred by Flag Ranch, LLC, Painted Wine Wagon picked up $6,665 to boost her earnings total to just under $160,000.

A Jordon Reed, Sc Vapor Trail, Double Eagle, Apollitical Approach, Streaks Of Ivory, Ima China Rush and Pv Queen Bee Candy completed the field.

The Mr Master Bug is named after the 1982 All American Futurity winner who was bred and owned by Marvin and Lela Barnes of Ada, Okla. Mr Master Bug earned American Quarter Horse Champion honors in three consecutive years from 1982-1984 and retired with more than $1.7 million in earnings.
