OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MAY 13, 2018—Fast Prize Rumor posted the top 400-yard time over eight qualifying trials for the $373,790 Heritage Place Derby on Mothers’ Day at Remington Park. The gray 3-year-old pulled clear to win his heat by 1 ¼ lengths.

Owned by Jose Guzman of Dallas and trained by Amanda Tongay, Fast Prize Rumor was ridden by James Flores. The trial win was the first score of 2018 for Fast Prize Rumor, and his third career win, as he crossed the finish line in :19.746 over a fast track into a 17mph headwind.

All of the qualifiers faced a southerly headwind between 16-17mph.

Fast Prize Rumor is a gelding by Hez Our Secret from the Corona Cartel mare Coronas Fast Prize. He was bred in Texas by Weetona Stanley of Madill, Okla.

The connections of Fast Prize Rumor also sent the second-fastest qualifier to the derby as Pyc Fun N Fancy posted a time of :19.869 in trial number eight.

From the same female family as Fast Prize Rumor, Pyc Fun N Fancy is also bred by Weetona Stanley. The bay son of Pyc Paint Your Wagon, from the Mr Jess Perry mare First Prize Fancy, is a brother to multiple stakes winners including Remington Park Oklahoma-Bred Futurity winner Im A Fancy Pyc.

Pyc Fun N Fancy won last year's Laico Bird Stakes, was second in the Oklahoma Futurity(G2), third in the Heritage Place Futurity(G1) last season and fourth in Bob Moore Memorial Stakes(G2) last month. He has compiled a (9) 3-3-1 record and banked $290,102.
