ALTOONA, IA—SEPTEMBER 15, 2018—Ferrari James rallied under jockey Jonathan Dominguez to get a neck in front of Bye Byefreighttrain in the $45,000 Keokuk Stakes(G3) Saturday afternoon at Prairie Meadows. It was the second year in a row for the son of multiple stakes sire Ivory James to win the Grade 3 event.

Ferrari James completed the 400 yards in :19.754 seconds, equaling a 93 speed index, for trainer Manuel Campos. Alfredo Botello owns the 5-year-old Oklahoma-bred gelding who has compiled a (26) 11-3-3 record and used the $24,750 Keokuk winners' purse to increase his earnings mark to $252,436.

A five-time stakes winner at Prairie Meadows, Ferrari James has also won the Iowa Double Gold Derby, Altoona Derby and Two Rivers Stakes(G3) at the Iowa racing oval.

Weetona Stanley and W.E. Smith bred the multiple graded stakes winning gelding from the Mr Jess Perry mare Ferarri Fast Prize.

Also a multiple grade winner, Bye Byefreighttrain picked up $7,650 for his second-place effort. Shawna Manriquez conditions the Freighttrain B 5-year-old for owner/breeder L.P. Frank. Also an Oklahoma-bred, from the Takin On The Cash mare Bye Bye Bygones, the sorrel gelding has won eight of 35 starts and banked $288,704.

Thomas Scheckel's Corona Springs finished a head back in the blanket finish to earn $4,500 for third. Jason Olmstead saddled the 4-year-old Corona Cartel filly who is a half-sister to Scheckle's John Deere Juvenile winner, Aqua Flash, earlier on today's Prairie Meadows card. Bred in Utah by McColee Land & Livestock LLC, from the First Down Dash mare Aquafina, Corona Springs is a stakes-placed winner of $90,563.

Ferrari James returned $9.20 to win, $7.80 to place and $4.40 to show. Bye Byefreightrain returned $14 to place and $10 to show while Corona Springs paid $6.80 to place.

Completing the Keokuk field were Nsm Skydancer, Woop Dee Doo, Bout Tree Fiddy, Faster Than Hasta, Walk Off, Scholarly, Damn Strait, A Jordon Reed and Tommy The Train.
