Date Posted: 3/17/2008 9:36:41 AM

Heza Jodys Toast is nearing the $200,000 career earnings mark following Sunday's stakes win.
Louisiana Downs
BOSSIER CITY, LA—MARCH 16, 2008—Heza Jodys Toast dueled gamely Sunday afternoon to win the $25,000 Swift Stakes, an open contest for 4-year-olds and up at Louisiana Downs.

The 4-year-old bay son of Heza Fast Dash pushed his career record to 5-4-2 from 15 starts with earnings just short of $200,000. In his last start on February 17 he was second by a head in the Mr Jess Perry Stakes.

Owned by Warren King and Frank Cavazos and trained by Cavazos, Heza Jodys Toast won the Delta Downs Louisiana Breeders' Derby(RG1) last season. He was ridden to victory Sunday afternoon by Alfonso Lujan covering the 400 yards in :20.190.

Race favorite Heza Fast Classic, also by Heza Fast Dash, finished last after getting in tight at the start and being checked early.

Heza Fast Dash, a grade 2 stakes winner, was bred and raced by Weetona Stanley of the Lady Bug Stallion Station. A full-brother to grade 1 winner Fast First Prize, winner of the Heritage Place Futurity, he was sold following his race career and has become one of the most successful you sires standing in Louisiana.

Completing the field were Tip Toe Dasher, Okey Dokey Jess, Cantcatcha Corona, Streakin La Cooper, Johnny R Smith and Heza Fast Classic.
