This weekend’s slate has seven races for juveniles in the books and that’s after last weekend feature six contests for freshmen runners. The quality of runners on display over the last few racing programs has been tremendous so with that in mind, let’s take a brief look at the recent juvenile winners here at Los Alamitos. Remember, many of these will be back for Ed Burke Million Trials night. SATURDAY, APRIL 29 Stanley Cartel – Owned and bred by Weetona Stanley, this colt by Pyc Paint Your Wagon comes from the great Stanley breeding line that produced the great First Down Dash. His dam’s granddam is First Prize Rose, the mother of First Down Dash. In his debut, Stanley Cartel scored a half-length victory for trainer Monty Arrossa.
