ALBUQUERQUE, NM–AUGUST 10, 2024–Brink Man V and jockey Francisco Calderon broke sharply from the middle and led throughout the thirteenth trial race to win and qualify fastest on Day 2 for the $3 million All American Futurity in 21.367 seconds for 440-yards Saturday at the Downs of Albuquerque.

"We got the tailwind and lucked out today," Calderon said in the winner's circle. "I've liked this horse from day one. He ran a tremendous race."

His qualifying sets up a rematch with Hezgothelook Z, who defeated Brink Man V in the Ruidoso Futurity on June 9 at Ruidoso Downs. Brink Man V finished third in the first triple crown race then took the Rainbow Futurity off to rest and prepare for today's All American trials.

Brink Man V was heavily favored by bettors who backed the youngster at thirty-cents, paying $2.60, $2.40 and $2.20.

The $200,000 Heritage Place September Yearling Sale graduate has two wins in three career starts for owner Sammy Valeriano and trainer Heath Taylor. Leading sire Apollitical Jess sired Brink Man V from the Corona Cartel mare Itea. William E. Smith bred Brink Man V in Oklahoma.

Itea, bred by Smith and Weetona Stanley, is a full sister to Rainbow Futurity(G1) winner Ms First Prize Rose, Remington Park Futurity(RG1) winner Coronado Cartel and Rainbow Juvenile winner Denver Pass.

Today's five qualifiers will join the five from Friday's trials (see related story) to return to the Downs at Albuquerque on Labor Day and vie for the winner's share of the $3,000,000 purse worth $1,500,000.
