Owned by Weetona Stanley and William Smith, the two-year-old filly by Shazoom rocketed to a two and one-half length victory under champion jockey G.R. Carter. The debut winner earned a 105 speed index with no wind blowing. Her clocking bested the former track and world record of 14.88 seconds previously held by Famous Lane in 2006. Fast Prize Zoom was one of three West Texas Futurity qualifiers trained by Wesley Giles who won last year’s classic with Wild Six. Bred by Ladybug Stallion Station's Weetona Stanley, Fast Prize Zoom is from the second crop of foals produced by Heritage Place Futurity winner Fast First Prize. Fast First Prize won $244,929 at 2. She is the dam of 3 ROM including 2008 3-year-old Fast Prize Doll an earner of more than $85,000, who finished third in the Harrah's Entertainment Futurity and was a finalist in the Remington Park Futurity-G1. Her other starter is a two-year-old Corona Cartel filly, First Prize Corona who earned a 100 speed index at Remington Park in her first asking on March 15. Fast First Prize is a full sister to grade 2 stakes winner and leading third year sire Heza Fast Dash and a half-sister to grade 1 winners First Carolina ($404,775), First Prize Robin ($295,147) and grade 1 stakes-placed First Prize Perry. ($243,946). Fast Prize Zoom's second dam is the 2006 AQHA Broodmare of the Year First Prize Dash, a full-sister to All-Time Leading Sire First Down Dash. Here are the qualifiers for the Grade 1 West Texas Futurity: Fast Prize Zoom (14.870), Jess Significant (14.989, Reacorona (15.048), Mr Perrys Wine (15.072), Little Rebas Corona (15.079), Feature Ten (15.086), Ls Separatist (15.102), Cee Cee Otoole (15.126), Jodys Money Pop (15.129) and Misty Blue Mercedes (15.158).
