EDMONTON, ALB—SEPTEMBER 14, 2024—First Famous Prize got he first career stakes win on Saturday when she defeated a field of eight other juveniles in the $78,375(US) Canada Quarter Horse Cup Futurity(RG3) at Century Mile Racetrack. The post-time favorite, First Famous Prize, broke well from post 8, then crossed to the inside at the mid-point, without interference, before sprinting to a 1-1/2 length victory. Jockey Amador Hernandez rode the Texas-bred daughter of leading sire One Famous Eagle over 400 yards in 19.999, a 97-speed index with a 30 mph tailwind. Trainer Buckey A. Stockwell saddled the $20,000 Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale graduate to her second career win in six starts for owners Commotion Creek Contracting and WT Ranches, Ltd. Weetona Stanley bred First Famous Prize from the Desirio mare Fancy First Prize. First Famous Prize was second in the John Deere Century Mile Juvenile Challenge on July 27 and a finalist in the Pocatello Downs Spring Classic Futurity in May. The $35,626(US) Canada Cup winner's purse more than doubled her earnings to $52,135. Runner-up Ima Hot Version, under jockey Jesus Medina, earned $13,458(US) for her second-place effort. Misael Moreno conditions the daughter of multiple stakes sire Winners Version for owners Laci Brunelle and Darby Danard. Ralph Danard bred the chestnut filly in Alberta from the Tres Seis mare Im Hott Ur Nott. Also second in the Sales Stakes Futurity in June, Ima Hott Version has earned $26,293. O La Dee Da, a daughter of leading Canadian sire First Timber, finished three-quarters back to earn $7,917(US) for owner-breeder and trainer Wesley T. Oulton. Oulton bred the chestnut filly, with his wife Susen, from the El Rey Burner mare Sass N Dass. Corrine Andros rode the multiple stakes finalist who has earned $25,433. O La Dee Da was fourth in the Alberta Stallion Stakes Futurity and Sales Stakes Futurity.
