STANLEY CARTEL REMAINS PERFECT 5-FOR-5, QUALIFIES FOR GRADE 1 $763,000 LOS ALAMITOS SUPER DERBY Date Posted: 10/21/2024 5:07:34 AM Stanley Cartel, under jockey Armando Cervantes, was a 1-3/4 length winner in the third Super Derby trial Sunday night. © Amber Mendez LOS ALAMITOS, CA–OCTOBER 20, 2024–Dunn Ranch and Weetona Stanley's Stanley Cartel is now a perfect five for five after winning his trial by 1 ¾ lengths to the Grade 1, $763,000 Los Alamitos Super Derby Sunday night at Los Alamitos Race Course. Bred by Weetona Stanley, the son of Pyc Paint Your Wagon will be looking to make his first ever start in a Grade 1 final. He qualified to the Grade 1 Ed Burke Million Futurity last year, but his victory in the trials to that race was his final start of 2023. So far, he's posted 1 ¾ length win margins in each of his three starts this year. Armando Cervantes was aboard the Oklahoma-bred. Stanley Cartel's 19.722 clocking was the second fastest of the night. The winner of the Sgt Pepper Feature Handicap in last start has earned $57,760. He is out of the multiple Grade 1 producing Mr Jess Perry mare First Prize Fancy.
