Photo by: Eugene O'Neill / Coady PhotoSUNLAND PARK, NM—APRIL 19, 2008—Fast Prize Zoom will look to prove the most impressive career start in history was no fluke when she goes to the post in the $300,392 West Texas Futurity(G1) Sunday afternoon at Sunland Park Race Course. Owned by Weetona Stanley and William E. Smith of Oklahoma, the Shazoom filly raced to a three length win in :14.870 seconds on April 4 in the West Texas trials. She eclipsed Famous Lane’s world and track record by 1/100th of a second. Trained by Wes Giles, the brown filly is out of 2002 Heritage Place Futurity winner Fast First Prize. The Heza Fast Man mare is a full sister Heza Fast Dash who is among the leading third year sires this season. In 2008, she has had two 2-year-olds make one start each, the aforementioned Fast Prize Zoom earning a 105 speed index in her first asking and a Corona Cartel filly, Fast Prize Corona, who won her debut at Remington Park on March 15 while recording a 100 speed index. Fast First Prize is also the dam of the Mr Jess Perry filly Fast Prize Doll who finished third in last season's Harrah's Entertainment Futurity. Weetona Stanley of Lady Bug Stallion Station is the breeder of all the aforementioned stakes horses. |
