SUNLAND PARK, NM—APRIL 20, 2008—Weetona Stanley and William Smith's Fast Prize Zoom held true to her name with another record breaking performance in the $300,958 West Texas Futurity at Sunland Park.

On Sunday afternoon at Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino, it was all about Fast Prize Zoom. The two-year-old Oklahoma-bred filly by Shazoom ran a world-record and track record time of 14.678 to improve to 2-for-2 in her young career. Sunday’s edition of the West Texas Futurity was the 50th running of the popular event.

Fast Prize Zoom was a bit unsettled in the gate, but once the race began she raced out of the No. 9 spot and had no trouble in besting her previous time of 14.87 in the trials back on April 4 at Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino.

The brown filly broke her maiden in her first start in the April 4 West Texas trials covering the 300 yards in :14.870, breaking Famous Lane's American Quarter Horse World Record by 1/100th.

First Prize Zoom is the only American Quarter Horse in history to run back-to-back world records in their first two starts. She earned a speed index of 111 while winning the futurity.

“I’m real fortunate to have this horse,” Giles said. “She was ready to run when I got her. I wanted to win this race, I’m glad we got 1-2.”

She returned $4.40 on a $2 win ticket for her loyal backers and also $4.20 to place and $2.40 to show. Jockey G.R. Carter, who is one of the nation’s top jockeys, won his first-ever West Texas Futurity.

“She’s a wonderful animal,” said owner William E. Smith of Fast Prize Zoom. Smith owns Fast Prize Zoom along with Weetona Stanley. Fast Prize Zoom earned $141,450 for the owners. The race was worth $300,958.

Feature Ten finished half-length back for third with Jodys Money Pop another half-length back in third in the West Texas Futurity(G1).

Fast Prize Zoom's next start is expected to be this summer at Ruidoso Downs. Stanley and Smith will discuss their options with trainer Wes Giles and make a decision on running in the Ruidoso Futurity(G1) or Rainbow Futurity(G1).

Bred in Oklahoma by Weetona Stanley of the Lady Bug Stallion Station, the filly is out of the 2002 Heritage Place Futurity winner(G1), Fast First Prize. The Heza Fast Man mare is a full sister Heza Fast Dash who is among the leading third year sires this season.

From five starters she has produced three winners including the World Record Holder and Grade 1 winner Fast Prize Zoom who is now earned $152,120 and is undefeated from two starts and Fast Prize Doll, an earner of $81,427 at 2 last season, finishing third in the Harrah's Entertainment Futurity and qualifying to the Remington Park Futurity(G1). Her other winner if a Corona Cartel filly, Fast Prize Corona, who won her debut at Remington Park on March 15 while recording a 100 speed index.
