FIRST TIMBER EASY WINNER IN THREE-YEAR-OLD DEBUT AT RUIDOSO Date Posted: 6/12/2008 7:43:53 PM RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—JUNE 12, 2008—Weetona Stanley and W.E. Smith's First Timber won in his first asking as a three-year-old today at Ruidoso Downs. The son of Oak Tree Special out of the Lady Bug Stallion Station's Broodmare of the Year First Prize Dash went :15.450 into a headwind over the 300 yards for a 93 speed index. Saddled by Heath Taylor the brown colt was ridden by champion jockey G.R. Carter, Jr. Last season the colt broke his maiden by 1-14 lengths in his first start at Remington Park in Oklahoma City. He is now 2-0-0 from three career starts. First Timber is a half-brother to grade 1 winners First Carolina, winner of the Heritage Place Futurity(G1) and Remington Park Derby(G2); First Prize Robin, winner of the Remington Park Futurity(G1); Fast First Prize, winner of the Heritage Place Futurity; and First Prize Perry, runner-up in the Texas Classic Futurity(G1). He is also a half-brother to grade 2 winner and a leading third year sire Heza Fast Dash. First Timer is expected to make his next start in either the Rainbow or All American Derby trials. |
