FIRST PRIZE DASH HAS THREE IN SUNDAYS GRADE 1 SPEEDHORSE GOLD & SILVER CUP Date Posted: 7/24/2008 9:40:26 PM TULSA, OK—JULY 24, 2008—Former American Quarter Horse Racing's Broodmare of the Year, First Prize Dash produced three-qualifiers to the $433,378 Speedhorse Gold and Silver Cup Futurity(RG1) to be contested on Sunday at Fair Meadows. Stacey Capps will saddle two of the charges First Prize Timber, a son of Oak Tree Special, and First Prize Paris, a daughter of Mr Jess Perry. First Prize Timber and First Prize Paris each made winning debuts at Fair Meadows in the trials. William Smith and Lloyd Scherwinski’s First Prize Timber broke his maiden with a half-length trial win in the second-fastest time of :17.757. He was a close second in two previous starts at Remington Park. Weetona Stanley, breeder of all three of the qualifiers, and William Smith co-own First Prize Paris who scored her second win from three starts when she drew out to a 1 ¾- length trial victory. Her time of :17.814 was third-fastest. First Prize Corona, a daughter of Corona Cartel, also owned by the partnership of Stanley and Smith, finished second in her trial for the ninth qualifying spot. First Prize Dash, a full sister to All-Time Leading Sire First Down Dash has produced 11 ROM including three grade 1 winners. Her stakes winners include the aforementioned First Carolina; First Prize Robin; Heritage Place Futurity(G1) winner Fast First Prize; Blue Ribbon Futurity(G2) winner Heza Fast Dash; and Texas Classic Futurity(G1) runner-up First Prize Perry.
First Prize Dash is also the grand-dam of 300 yard world-record holder Fast Prize Zoo, winner of the Grade 1 West Texas Futurity and the fastest qualifier to the $625,000 Rainbow Futurity(G1), where she finished a game fourth.
