SALLISAW, OK—SEPTEMBER 6, 2008—Breeder/owner Weetona Stanley of Madill, Oklahoma dominated the seven trials for the $100,000-Guranteed Black Gold 330 Futurity on Saturday afternoon at Blue Ribbon Downs.

The long-time Quarter Horse breeder, who sold the all-time high selling yearling at the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale last weekend when First Prize Stanley brought a bid of $675,000, qualified three of the ten finalists on Saturday.

The top ten qualifiers will return on September 21 to contest the 330 yard race.

W.E. Smith and Lloyd Scherwinski's First Prize Timber was the fastest qualifier after winning the sixth trial by ¾ of a length in :16.765 seconds. Bred by Stanley, the Oak Tree Special colt came in to the trials off a fifth place finish in the restricted $423,000 grade 1 Speedhorse Futurity.

Trained by Stacey Capps and ridden by Larry Payne, First Prize Timber has a 2-2-0 record from five career starts with earnings in excess of $32,000.

Stanley and Smith are co-owners of the fifth fastest qualifier First Prize Paris who was a 1-3/4 length winner in the final trial. Sired by Mr Jess Perry, she and First Prize Timber are both out of Stanley's former Broodmare of the Year First Prize Dash.

Capps also saddled First Prize Paris who was also ridden by Payne and finished fourth in the Speedhorse Futurity in her last start. She has a 3-1-0 record from five career starts with earning of over $48,000.

Mrs. Stanley's final qualifier, Fly Like Me, finished second by a nose in the third trial but held on to the sixth best clocking of the day. The gelding is by the first year sire Fly Jess Fly out of the Disco Jerry(TB) mare Wanna Be Me.

Luis Villafranco handled the training duties for the gelding making just his third career start. Adalberto Candanosa was on-board.
