ALL AMERICAN DERBY FINALIST TO PIERCE RANCH Date Posted: 11/27/2008 11:53:29 AM Photo by Jon MixerSALLISAW, OK—NOVEMBER 26, 2008—Grade 1 finalist First Timber will begin his stallion career in 2009 at Pierce Ranch near Sallisaw, Oklahoma. His fee will be $1,000 with consideration. The 3-year-old son of World Champion Oak Tree Special won two of six starts while earned $46,029. He was a finalist in the 2008 All American Derby(G1) at Ruidoso Downs. First Timber is out former Broodmare of the Year First Prize Dash, a full sister to All Time Leading Sire of Money Earners First Down Dash. He is a half-brother to 14 ROM winners including three grade 1 winners, First Carolina ($415,047), winner of the Heritage Place Futurity(G1); First Prize Robin ($295,147), winner of the Remington Park Futurity(G1); Fast First Prize ($244,929) winner of the Heritage Place Futurity(G1); grade 2 winner Heza Fast Dash ($136,123) winner of the Blue Ribbon Futurity; grade 1 stakes-placed First Prize Perry ($243,946) runner-up in the Texas Classic Futurity(G1); and stakes-placed and restricted grade 1 finalist First Prize Paris ($68,732 at 2, 2008). Another half-brother, First Prize Stanley, topped the 2008 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale with a final bid of $675,000. First Timber is a full brother to stakes-placed and grade 1 stakes finalist First Prize Timber, a 2008 two-year-old that is currently the second fastest qualifier to the Black Gold Championship(RG3). The finals will be run Sunday (November 30) at Blue Ribbon Downs. Half-sister Fast First Prize is the dam of grade 1 winner Fast Prize Zoom who set a new world record in her first start at 2, 2008 then returned two weeks later to break the record again while winning the West Texas Futurity(G1). The filly covered the 300 yards in :14.678 seconds. An earner of nearly $200,000 she also finished fourth in the Rainbow Futurity(G1) in her only defeat. His half-brother Heza Fast Dash, who currently has his third crop at the track, has consistently been among the top-three sires in the nation for his stallion crop. He sired last year AQHA Racing Champion Two-Year-Old Gelding nominee Senor Seabolt, an earner of nearly $400,000. First Timber was recently acquired by Pierce Family Partnership LLC, Preston Cloud and Danny Caldwell from breeder Weetona Stanley and W.E. Smith.
