Steve Wilson and Rodney Reed's Spit Like Jagger just missed the $1 million Heritage Place Futurity(G1) Friday night ending up with the sixth fastest time of :17.233 seconds. (See Related Story). On Saturday night Reliance Ranches, LLC's Blue Gene Harley ended up with the 10th fastest time also putting him into the $75,0000 June 1 Heritage Place Juvenile at Remington Park. Jimmy Brooks rode the Spit Curl Jess gelding to a two-length victory in the fifth trial. Eddie D. Willis trains. Weetona Stanley and W.E. Smith are the co-breeders of Blue Gene Harley who is out of the Corona Cartel mare First Prize Corona SI 99. From her first crop of starters, she has also produced 2012 Oklahoma Futurity(G2) finalist Spit Curl Daisy ($12,882), winner Sassy Spit Curl ($36,388) and the aforementioned Blue Gene Harley ($13,776). The second dam is former Broodmare of the Year First Prize Dash, a full sister to all-time leading sire First Down Dash and the dam of 28 ROM, nine stakes horses, including three Grade 1 winners. She and her Grade 1 Mr Jess Perry daughter First Carolina hold the distinction as the only mother/daughter to each produce a high-selling yearling at the Ruidoso September Yearling Sale. |
